Temperature


Temperature:
The degree of hotness or coldness of a body is called temperature.
The temperature is measured using an instrument called thermometer.

There are 2 common scales to measure temperature. they are

  1. Celsius or centigrade scale
  2. Fahrenheit scale

Celsius or centigrade scale: The freezing point of this scale is 0 and boiling point is 100.  The distance between these two points on scale is divided into 100 equal divisions is known as 1 centigrade.

Fahrenheit scale: The freezing point of this scale is 32 and boiling point is 212.  The distance between these two points on scale is divided into 180 equal divisions, and each division is known as 1 Fahrenheit.
