Mass:
It is defined as the amount of
matter contained in a body. It does not vary its physical state with change in
position. Mass of a body can be measured
directly using weighing machines or lever balance. Units of mass is “Kgs”
Ex: Mass of a boy is 58kgs,
1.
2.
Weight:
It is the gravitational pulling
force exerted by earth on a body (mass)
As the
distance of the body varies from the center of earth, its weight also varies.
Units of
weight is “Newtons”.
Ex: weight of
a mass(body) on earth varies from weight on moon.
W=mxg
m=mass of a
body (kg)
g= acceleration
of gravity (9.8 m/s2)
Ex:
Let mass of a boy is 58kgs
W= 58*9.81 =568.98N
then
his weight is 568.98N
